Arlene Louise Monteverde passed away on February 4, 2020 holding her devoted husband’s hand.
By Yvonne MonteverdeArlene was born in Smithtown NY on October 5, 1943 and was raised on Long Island. She attended Sachem High School where she stole the attention of her future husband, Bill Monteverde. The Monteverde family began on September 19, 1963 as they eloped on a budget, and within 6 years they added 4 children - Dawn, Billy, Maria and Yvonne.
In 1976 when snow and high taxes got to be too much they packed up the family and headed south to Florida where their love and faith in each other helped to create a new life.
Arlene worked as the CEO of the house for many years making sure lunches were made, teeth were brushed, shuttled kids to various events and made sure Bill was kept in line. When the time was right, she went to work at Square D Electronics and quickly became a supervisor. She worked there for 15 years and was oh so happy to leave to pursue a career in interior design. Design work was her true passion and picking paint colors kept her engaged for hours.
Arlene retired alongside Bill and they moved back to their favorite spot, Inglis, Florida. She enjoyed socializing with friends at Bunco, Knit Wits and Town Hall.
Arlene created a beautiful legacy with Bill as they celebrated 56 blissful years of marriage and watched their children grow and prosper. Arlene is survived by Bill as well as 3 children and spouses, Dawn & Eric Kelley, Billy &Jennifer Monteverde and Yvonne & Brian McClung. In addition, she leaves behind the light of her life, 5 grandchildren, Hunter, Morgan, and Ty Monteverde and Marisa and Chase McClung. She is reunited in heaven with her daughter Maria Elena. We know they were so excited to see each other again!
Arlene was a very special person who could light up a room with her wit, charm and feisty personality!
